From the Velasco dictatorship to revolutionary nationalism
Synopsis
It analyzes Ecuador’s political transition in the 1970s, marked by the oil boom and state modernization. It examines the final dictatorship of Velasco Ibarra (1970–1972), characterized by repression and the elimination of precarious agricultural conditions, up to the military coup led by Guillermo Rodríguez Lara. The “Revolutionary and Nationalist Government” promoted a developmentalist model, defended oil sovereignty (CEPE, OPEC), and implemented social reforms prior to its crisis in 1976.
