Adoption of Green Finance in Ecuador's Cooperative Sector: challenges, opportunities, and regional dynamics
Synopsis
Credit unions in Ecuador are embracing green finance to improve financial inclusion and climate resilience. This article examines the opportunities presented by these loans and the evolution of the regulatory framework governing them. Although green financing is making headway in underserved rural areas, significant structural barriers remain, including technical limitations, a lack of innovation, regional inequalities, and a lack of coordination with public policies.
