“The Possible Revolution and the Commitment to the Revolution”
Synopsis
On August 1, 1964, the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Ecuador (PCMLE) was founded, breaking ideologically with the Communist Party of Ecuador. This chapter examines its origins and consolidation against a backdrop of intense social contradictions. It also analyzes the prior internal conflicts, the influence of Browder’s revisionism following the 1944 revolution, and the complex effects of the 20th Congress of the CPSU on the national and international left.
