Synopsis

The Ecuadorian Technical Standard for Archival Description (NTEDA), developed by UASB-E and the National Historical Archives, establishes the official framework for organizing and describing Ecuador’s documentary heritage. This standard articulates a multi-level description system based on international standards such as ISAD(G), allowing archives to move from the general (fonds) to the specific (simple units) without losing the context of creation. Through its preferred implementation on the AtoM platform, the standard ensures that all custodial institutions use uniform criteria regarding titles, dates, and reference codes. In essence, the NTEDA functions as a technical bridge that transforms paper-based archives into interconnected information systems, enabling citizens and researchers to locate historical documents with precision, technical rigor, and administrative transparency.

Verónica Alejandra Salazar Ruiz, National Archives of Ecuador

Es comunicadora social por la UTPL y Magíster en Sistemas de Archivo y Gestión Documental por la Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (UASB). Actualmente se desempeña como Directora del Archivo Histórico Nacional del Ecuador, donde lidera la preservación del patrimonio documental y la gestión de la memoria social.

María José Bravo Ramos, National Polytechnic School

Es una experta ecuatoriana en archivística, bibliotecología y seguridad de la información. Es Doctora en Documentación por la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid e Ingeniera en Sistemas por la Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN). Su formación incluye maestrías en Software, así como en Bibliotecas y Continuidad Digital, lo que le permite integrar la tecnología con la gestión documental

David Estuardo Sánchez Ramírez

Es un destacado investigador y especialista ecuatoriano en Archivística y Gestión Documental. Es Magíster en Archivística y Sistemas de Gestión Documental, así como Magíster en Historia, ambos títulos obtenidos por la Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (UASB-E).

Iván Rodrigo Garzón Guzmán

Es un experto ecuatoriano en Archivística y Gestión Documental, con una sólida trayectoria en la organización técnica de fondos documentales y la estandarización de procesos archivísticos. Es Magíster en Archivística y Sistemas de Gestión Documental por la Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (UASB-E).
